So our container gets taken away next weekend, back to the container graveyard from whence it came.
We can't deny it won't be an emotional goodbye.
It is the strangest feeling getting attached to something you made on the basis of it's limited temporality.
We all agree that it's been such a beautiful project. From the hours of painting, through to the thrill of our first chalk-artist and down to the little heart-tug that happens when people smile at what you've done and get involved.
To everyone that came and drew, we thank you! As our first publicised project, we were nervous of it's reception, having no idea how people would react, what the blank canvas would eventuate into. Maybe it's the coming of spring and the fun that the oncoming summer promises, but people were so keen! Minute by minute the container turned into more than just an artwork plonked on a uni pavement, it became a locale for interaction and expression, a little meeting place where people could express their thoughts, argue their points and just draw pretty things.
Looking at her (she totally has a personality) now, she's evolved into such a gorgeous object, the culmination of a whole plethora of different people getting their hands dirty and having a bit of fun. It's a bit hard to let her go.
But as with any beautiful thing, she is ephemeral, and like all proud parents, we have to let her go.
But in the meantime! With the few hours we have left, come on down, get involved and say your goodbyes!
We will also be opening up the blog for public comment, and if anyone has any photos or any stories from the container, please post them. As with the container, the blog is about a sharing of ideas, of mutual exchange and the process of collaboration, so just like with our technicolour little box down on Eastern Ave, if you have a sec, if you've got something to say, then get chalking! ;)

from next Tuesday (30th of August 2011) we will be set up on Eastern Avenue in Sydney University.

We will be painting, chalking, decorating and destroying our little chalking container and we want you to come keep us company and get involved.

If you are at uni, swing by, if you're not, swing by. But either way, come on down and see what's happening :)
